From the detached world of iTunes and YouTube comes a jolt of genuine emotion. Blake Bliss, the award-winning musician (featuring Tnon and Thibs backing Blake’s vocals and guitar) has been recording, performing and winning awards since 2006. But what demons did he face on the road to success?

Blake was born near Toronto, Canada, where school was a place of fear, bullying, and name-calling. Blake turned inward and struggled with chronic depression for a decade.  Music helped heal him. With only an acoustic guitar and his own true voice, he let out his feelings -- first alone, and gradually to a constellation of other people, drawn to his dulcet tones and poetic lyrics. But devastated by the suicide of three friends, Blake turned to Dekyi-Lee Oldershaw, a former Tibetan-Buddhist nun, to help him take responsibility for his thoughts and feelings.

Now Blake shares his learning with others in need. His social network, CompassionandPeace.org provides information and a forum for people in trouble.  He gives talks as a motivational speaker, and performs annually for the Carnegie Future Aces Foundation. He is an anti-bullying activist, a trained ASSIST suicide intervention counsellor and works with the CMHA to promote awareness of mental health through his charity the CAPAOC.

His music videos (on YouTube channels BlakeBliss, BlakeBliss2 and SeperatedByFew with over 40,000 subscribers) are enriched by accompanying videos. With his porcelain features and a shock of jet-black hair, viewers are encouraged to feel that as part of a larger collective they no longer walk alone.

He uses the SpiderCapo (made by his sponsor Creative Tunings) to create innovative guitar tunings. His single “Constellations” (2009) won the Multinational Songwriting Contest. His first albums, “Betrayal Inc.”, and “Letterbox Black,” and his recently released “Your Demons Cry” are attracting growing acclaim.  The new Gathering Ash live EP has just been released for 2012.
